Member Rate History Page

Purpose

On this page you can view and search for member category’s rate history by specific criteria, such as the statutory program, member category, and Collective Bargaining Unit (CBU). Search results display below the search criteria in the Member Rate History section.

By default, the search results are displayed based on the selected statutory program from the Business Partner Summary page.

Background

A statutory plan defines the rules for providing benefits to each statutory CalPERS member. By law, every member is assigned a base set of benefits depending on the type of employee they are, e.g. California Highway Patrol, Peace Officer/Firefighter (POFF). The California Government Code, Department of Personnel Administration, and bargaining units memorandum of understanding, regulate these rules and provisions. Changes in the statute may be brought about by legislation, bargaining units memorandum of understanding, or approved letters from the Department of Personnel Administration. Specialized CalPERS representatives maintain changes in the statutory plan. These changes are then applied to applicable schools, and state agencies.

For public agencies and schools, a CalPERS representative can update provisions associated with base benefits. For state agencies, a CalPERS representative can create a new member category, reclassify groups of employees from one member category to another, create a new state golden handshake, modify existing benefits, or provide new or existing benefits to certain group of employees.
